"VS!" progression

Fri Jan 1, 2010, 6:25 PM
Playtesting is coming along nicely. Will have to edit and re post he faction cards, as there have been some changes to stats and traits. Am currently working on the event cards, and will be interested in how these mesh with the game, which is pretty good so far.

"VS!", the Board Game

Mon Dec 21, 2009, 10:26 PM
I love making board games. Love it!
Putting up bits for a new one called "VS!", which answers the age old question: Who would win a fight between ninjas and pirates? Or more appropriately, who would win a fight between ninjas, pirates, robots, vikings, zombies and aliens?

Got all the playing pieces up, need to finish the board, the cards, the faction sheets and the tokens.
Once this is done, all my buddies who are interested can note me and I will send them a copy of the rules so that they can have a play of it with their friends! Any and all feedback on the game would be most appreciated.

Plus working on other bits and pieces that are non game related.

The unstoppable juggernaut that is Xmas

Wed Dec 16, 2009, 1:10 PM
IT'S COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GAAAAAAH!

Seriously though, just finished making a Gemlin calendar for next year, which will be featuring heavily in Xmas gifts. Just need to get ink for the printer. Need to work on my entries for some other contests that may be starting up next year.

Heir to the Goblin King is moving slowly. Maybe a bit too slowly, so I am plugging it again. Come and see it here :iconheirtothegoblinking: and enter! Or if not entering, find someone who is willing and MAKE THEM ENTER! BRRRROOOOAAAAH!!!

Plus, the new Blood Bowl pc game socks the rocks off! I should spend less time playing it and more time drawing though.

Reading

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is an amusing diversion. Made me giggle.
Frankenstein is a great book. Everyone should read it. The movies are nothing like it!
Read The League of extraordinary Gentlemen. Alan Moore does not like anyone being good. He does not believe in heroes. It is an interesting story, but damn does it get depressing! Liked facets of it, but was disappointed overall.

Hang my head in shame.

I finally saw Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I am hard pressed to find a worse movie. It was disappointing on oh so many levels. Badly scripted, badly acted, badly executed, and above all badly directed.
Why was so much screen time devoted to such annoying characters?
Why add all these extra characters if you are not going to do anything with them?
Why couldn't they write a script that made sense?
Why was fricking Optimus Prime given bad guy lines?

Michael Bay has the directing mentality of a horny 15yr old boy. It's all big explosions, violence, hawt chicks and crude jokes. It didn't achieve anything! I think he actually hates movies. That is he only explanation I can come up with that makes sense.
Megatron was such a badass in the first one, why is he such a wimp in the second?
Since when does Megatron work for ANYONE?!
In the movie Optimus fights with all the homocidal brutality of Jason Voorhees! He rips another transformer's face in half with meathooks! What... the... fuck?! It is fucking OPTIMUS PRIME!! He's supposed to be the best and most honourable of the autobots, and he's taking names like a slasher movie killer!

After discussing things with my wife, who also watched this with me, I have come to grudgingly admit that the movie Twilight was actually better than Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, simply because it was at least internally consistent within it's own setting. But don't start judging me, I'm not saying Twilight was good by any stretch of the imagination, rather look at it in this way; it is better in the same way as eating horse shit is better than eating dog shit because at least horse shit is full of fibre.

On the plus side, we watched the new Star Trek movie after T:RotF to cleanse ourselves, and it was awesome. I'm not a star trek fan myself, but I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

I still weep for Transformers though. Damn you Michael Bay. You should be ashamed.
